Grievance officer

Last updated: 10 September 2026

If anything on Vidhipandit has harmed you, misstated a fact about you, or disclosed something the law says should not have been disclosed, this is the page that gets it in front of a named human being on a clock. You do not need a lawyer to use it, and you do not need to pay anything.

Who to write to

Under Rule 11 of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, we appoint an India-based Grievance Officer and publish their name and contact details.

What happens, and by when

Rule 11(2) of the IT Rules, 2021 sets the timetable and we do not treat it as a target:

Two categories move faster than that, because the exposure is criminal and ongoing while the page is up. A complaint that a judgment page discloses the identity of a victim protected under section 72 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, of a child under section 23 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, or of a child under section 74 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, is acted on as soon as it is read: the page comes down first and is assessed afterwards. You do not have to prove your case before we act.

If you are anywhere in that category, say so in your first sentence. You do not need to name the person you are worried about in order to complain -- the case number is enough, and giving us a name we did not already hold works against the point of the complaint.

How to complain

Tell us, in whatever form is easiest for you:

Anything more than that is optional. We do not require identity documents, a stamped format, an affidavit, or a lawyer's letter to open a complaint, and we will not delay one for want of any of those.

If you are not satisfied with our answer

The IT Rules, 2021 build a three-level structure. This page is Level I. At Level II a complaint may be escalated to a self-regulating body of publishers constituted under Rule 12; Vidhipandit's membership of such a body is [PENDING-OPERATOR-FACT: self-regulating body (IT Rules Rule 12) membership status] and this line will name the body once that is settled. At Level III the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting operates an oversight mechanism under Part III of the Rules.

None of this displaces your ordinary remedies. You may go to a court, to a consumer forum, or to the police, at any time, without asking us first and without exhausting anything here.

What we publish about grievances

Rule 18(3) of the IT Rules, 2021 requires a publisher to publish a compliance report every month giving the details of grievances received and the action taken on them. The first such report is [PENDING-OPERATOR-FACT: date of the first monthly Rule 18(3) compliance report] -- the site has not yet begun operations, so no month has yet closed and no grievance has yet been received. When those reports begin, individual complainants will not be named in them.
